Dr. Sheri is a proven visionary, best-selling author and highly sought after physician leader. She is a board-certified occupational & environmental medicine physician, public health expert, and a breast cancer survivor.
After breast cancer treatment left her disabled from lymphedema in her right upper extremity, stripping her of her life-long dream of being a practicing physician, she re-invented herself and went on to become a national public figure, professional speaker, and entrepreneur/owner of her own healthcare consulting business. She has been the catalyst for transformation in the space of cultural and workplace diversity for a myriad of organizations for more than two decades. As the former national spokesperson (six years) and the former national African American Health Equity Ambassador (two years) of the world’s largest breast cancer organization, Susan G Komen, she is no stranger to media, be it tv, radio, print or internet. She recently launched her new show, The LIVE Today, on CANTV channel 21. The show is designed to increase exposure to her nonprofit organization and provide valuable education and resources to individuals living with lymphedema.
It was her experience with cancer that impassioned her with an empathic fervor that embodies everything she does. She brings a unique perspective as a physician and a patient; a survivor and an overcomer; and a daughter turned caregiver. Although her bio and resume offer the many platforms, publications, places, and positions her abilities, skills, and anointing have carried her, what they do not mention is the tens of thousands of lives she has affected, changed, encouraged, inspired, and touched. It has been her holistic approach to life that envelops her interactions with those to whom she ministers, counsels, consoles, and comforts. Whether one-on-one, small groups, forums, panels, symposiums, congregations, or conferences, her delivery, determination, drive, and dedication to her purpose are always at the forefront. Passion is what you love to do. Talent is what you’re good at. Purpose is what you were born to do. Her current legacy of changing the lives of others including their future generations is her purpose.

In addition to helping patients and healthcare practitioners transform how healthcare is delivered and experienced she also shares her story, her voice, her life, and her victory in awe-inspiring and motivational ways. Dr. Sheri brings the unique perspective of being a patient and a physician to her impassioned and captivating speeches. Her remarkable story of pain, loss, and change has inspired hundreds of thousands of people across the country and abroad. She has delivered more than 500 keynote speeches and private seminars throughout the country and internationally. She has been featured in The New England Journal of Medicine, MORE, Essence, Oxygen, Today’s Chicago Woman, Weinberg Magazine, The Chicago Tribune and elsewhere. She has also been featured in hundreds of television, radio and newspaper interviews reaching millions around the country. As an expert in transformative medicine, a natural extension of her personal vision and mission in life is to educate consumers that healthcare and being healthy should be experienced joyfully.
Currently, she holds two medical management positions: S Phillips Consulting—President, CEO, and CIEN+—Chief Medical Officer.
S. Phillips Consulting LLC helps individuals/employees balance work and family which in turn allows employers to maintain a loyal and motivated workforce. Dr. Sheri knows and understands the importance of life balance and she provides interactive and realistic programs to help. Dr. Sheri also understands that every individual’s/company’s needs are going to be and should be different. Therefore, tailoring the concepts of wellness and healthy lifestyles specifically to your needs is her number one priority.
She has used her experience to apply medical management skills to three not-for-profit organizations—New Nation Anointed Ministries, Hope4Us (Chief Medical Officer), and The Harvey Brooks Foundation (Board of Directors). For these organizations, she serves as a liaison between physicians and the administration, oversees quality management programs, and performs strategic planning. Recently, she founded her own non-profit organization, LIVE-Today Foundation, an organization that enhances the quality of life for breast cancer survivors, especially those who suffer from lymphedema. The organization contributes to the health and well-being of its recipients by providing much needed and medically necessary compression garments.
She has obtained the following degrees: BA, with honors, Northwestern University 1989; MD, with honors, Loyola Stritch School of Medicine 1993; MPH, with a 5.0 GPA University of Illinois School of Public Health 1998; CPE (Certified Physician Executive), CCMM 2007; CSP® (Certified Speaking Professional™), National Speakers Association. Media Pitch

I was once a victim of cancer, congenital heart disease, and depression. I was in a battle for my life emotionally and physically and almost defeated. I’m physically disabled by lymphedema. Disabled from the job I’ve wanted ever since I was 2. To add insult to injury my boss told me that “a physician who is not clinically capable is of no value to me.” Having been born and raised on the south-side of Chicago, I should have cursed him out! But I didn’t. Instead, I had the great pleasure less than a year later of telling him that I was now the National Spokesperson for the Susan G Komen 3-Day, the world’s largest breast cancer organization.
It is has been said that our lives are the sum of our fears. The decisions made by us daily, are what helps us get to where we want to be; moving from where we are or experiencing no change at all.
As a guest on your podcast, I will demonstrate to your audience that in order to evolve and improve, you must choose not to relinquish your power to misperceptions, fear, painful situations, or people. Nothing can get in your way or prevent you from reaching your goal without your permission.
I’m Dr. Sheri and my Prescription for Life is to (L.I.V.E.)
“Love yourself and others,
Inspire those around you,
Voice your dreams and ambitions,
Enjoy Life!”
