Born and raised in Montreal, Steve Bisson moved to Massachusetts to pursue his dream of becoming a therapist. Steve worked in a non-profit for 15 years and obtained his masters in counseling psychology in 2003. Steve has worked in many environments, from group homes to the crisis team, as well as many criminal justice systems, including jails, courts, parole and probation. Steve has been running his own private practice since 2012. During this time, he has worked with individuals with trauma and mood disorders, as well as substance use issues. His main work has been with first responders, medical staff, as well correctional staff and military personnel. Steve is trained in CBT from the Aaron T. Beck institute, and completed his EMDR training. He wrote a book that was published in September 2020, “Finding Your Way Through Therapy” and started his own podcast in May 2021 with the same name. The book and podcast both focus on demystifying the mental health treatment process.
In his private life, Steve spends lots of time with his two daughters and two cats. Steve enjoys coaching his youngest daughter’s soccer team, as well as garden, read, and workout.

Steve feels that mental health should be as important as physical health. Mental health should be as easy as a visit to your doctor, even if it is just a check-in every 6 months. His goal is to work on simplify the process and how mental health treatment is viewed.
